Intel
This is a photo I shot today as a PR job for Intel. They are making a "big" announcement on Monday and this photo will go onto the AP wire to go along with said announcement.....anyway the idea was to show a "fab" worker in his clean suit and a regular consumer in the same photo.....so I had an idea to reflect the consumer into a wafer.....Intel has a really cool museum on one of the campuses and that museum had a cool wall that is basically a bunch of chips.....So I had the fab worker stand in front of the wall and then just shot the reflection of the laptop user in the wafer. This is NOT photoshop, this is real....I used 2 softboxes, 3 grids, 2 reflectors and a shit load of black velour to pull this image off. Let me know what you think.
UPDATE 7/25/05: Now that he announcment has been made, I can add the caption to this photo: Intel invests in growth. Intel technician Carlos Jones from Portland, Ore. reflects the image of University of Oregon student Lydia Webb in a 12-inch wafer containing hundreds of microprocessors. Intel announced this week that it will build a $3 billion wafer fabrication facility in Chandler, Ariz. to manufacture next generation computer chips for desktop and laptop PCs in 2007. The new "fab" will be part of Intel's network of factories located in such places as Oregon, New Mexico, Colorado, California, China, Ireland, Israel and Malaysia. (Photo by Craig Mitchelldyer)

The PR folks should be happy campers.

Great image Craig!!! You were working right down the hall from me. I have access to our stock library and I have not seen any images as cool as this one. This image would be an excellent candidate for SportsShooter's new Trade Secret feature. I'm enjoying following your work through your blog.

Mr. M!
I was just perusing sportsshooter and I came across this story about an AMAZING shot that _claimed_ it wasn't photoshopped. At first I didn't believe it. Then I was in awe. Then I saw that it was by Oregon's own Craig Mitchelldyer.
Bravo!

Bish
